Light and Space

As a landscape painter I work from what I see in front of me.  Something catches my eye, often the elusive light dancing on some surface, the glimpse takes my breath away - the land becomes a gateway to the transcendent.  That’s what the arts are for - the witness that we humans are more than we appear to be. We are not just the present dominate species on earth, but sentient beings capable of far more than surviving and technological  advancements.  We are capable of producing sublime meaning in music, literature, visual and performing arts.  The arts are a historical record of what we considered important, and the art we make today reflects what our time considers important.  For me the land, especially our wild lands, need advocacy - to recognize, appreciate and preserve them.  So click through these web pages, enjoy my passion for the land.
